The Athens airport is to the East of central Athens. Its address is marked as Spata, and is known as the Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos.” It is the busiest airport in Greece, and it serves as the hub for Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air, Air Mediterranean, Sky Express and Ryanair. Despite the economic trouble that Greece is in, the Athens international airport has seen numbers of passengers climb just recently to twenty million per year. The airport is accessible by road, and there are four bus lines that operate to and from the airport, but some people find it tricky taking the bus on their first visit. The railway and metro system has a station just adjacent to the airport, which is very convenient. There is also a designated taxi area, but the taxis in that area are very expensive to the point where it is far cheaper to get a Taxileader.net taxi instead. As with most airports, there is a mini mart for buying food and such, there is a children’s play area, and there are money services in the airport that will convert your money for you. There is also a nail salon and a pharmacy too. You may also gain access to a local retail park from the airport, but it is mostly filled with furniture and electrical superstores for people who live in the area. You may also gain access to the exhibition centre via the airport too. There are a slew of restaurants and cafes to try, there is a bar, and some of the restaurants serve alcohol too. You may find nine duty-free stores on the premises, but you may only enjoy them if you are taking an outbound flight and you are flying to a country outside of the EU. Also, even though it is duty free, it still has a very high profit margin to the point where getting a “Fantastic” bargain may be tricky. Apart from the nine duty-free stores, there are quite a number of shops to try within the airport itself, and they are shops that anybody can try.
